KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN
SURFACE PREPARATION: New Wood or Newly Sanded Floors: Make several passes with the sandpaper, increasing the paper fineness with each pass. The final pass before application of polyurethane finish should be with a 100 grit screen disc or sandpaper. Remove dust completely by sweeping, vacuuming and wiping the floor with a lint free cloth lightly dampened with tacking solution or water. The floor and room temperature should be at least 65 degrees F.
WARNING! IF YOU SCRAPE, SAND OR REMOVE OLD PAINT, YOU MAY RELEASE LEAD DUST. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
APPLICATION: Apply polyurethane finish with a 3/8” lint-free roller, synthetic pad, T-bar or brush going with the grain of the wood. For best results, apply 2 coats of polyurethane finish at the rate of 500 square feet per gallon over 1 coat of Sampson Seal Kote Universal Sealer. Follow dry time instructions for Seal Kote before applying polyurethane finish. Screen the floors with a 150 grit screen disc or 180 grit sandpaper between coats. Remember to vacuum and tack thoroughly after screening to remove all dust. Stir thoroughly before and during use. Do not shake container as this will create air bubbles.
Where possible remove old varnish, shellac, lacquer, etc. Sand surface smooth with 180 grit screen. Flow on a uniform even coat of polyurethane finish. Polyurethane finish dries in about 2 – 3 hours and may be re-coated in 4 – 6 hours. However, if polyurethane finish is allowed to dry more than 24 hours, due to its super hardness, it’s important that polyurethane finish be scuffed with 180 grit sandpaper to dull surface before applying subsequent coats. This product is designed to be used directly from the can without thinning under normal environmental and application conditions. Keep can closed when not in use.
Re-Coating Procedures For Previously Sealed or Finished Wood Floors

- Screen lightly with a 150 grit screen between coats of polyurethane.
- Vacuum up all dust possible then tack floor with a clean dampened towel.
