ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN Wood Floor Finish is the newest generation of state-of-the art wood floor finishes for the professional. ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN combines the most advanced waterbased technology and resins with oil-modified polyurethane for beauty and durability. Featuring Oil•n•H2O™, 100% urethane technology, ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN needs no separate crosslinker to provide tough protection for wood floors. No Thinning Required. Not recommended for white stained floors.
SURFACE PREPARATION: NEW OR NEWLY SANDED FLOORS: 1. Prepare the floor in the NWFA/NOFMA recommended manner. 2. Final cut before application of stain* should be with #80 grit paper and #120 screen disc. 3. Final cut before finish application on natural floor should be with #100 grit paper and #150 grit screen. 4. Vacuum well and remove all dust. *ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN should adhere well to most stains, but a test for adhesion over the stain is recommended.
APPLICATION OVER STAIN: We recommend Absco Quick Dry Penetrating Wood Finish Stain, following instructions on label until desired color is achieved. Allow stain sufficient time to dry, test with a dry cloth. Make sure the stain is completely dry before applying waterborne finish. It is always recommended to make a sample of the stain and topcoat, to ensure desired results.
PREVIOUSLY SEALED OR REFINISHED WOOD FLOORS: All wax, grease, soaps, oils and soil must be removed completely. Clean floor with a Wood Floor Cleaner. Screen floor with a 150-grit disc. Do not over-sand between coats. Make sure the floor is uniformly dull. Vacuum and wipe floor with cloth slightly dampened with water to remove all dust. Equipment: Apply with good quality nylon brush, pad or t-bar applicator. Clean Up: Use warm water to clean brushes and applicator. Coverage: 500-550 square feet per gallon.
RECOMMENDED SYSTEM ON RAW WOOD: For light traffic applications, minimum of 3 coats of ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN, or 1 coat Sealer (optional) and 2 coats of ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN. For high traffic areas, and soft or porous wood, minimum of 4 coats recommended. Test for adhesion prior to application on exotic or unusual species of wood, and woods containing oils.
APPLICATION: (Stir well before and during use.) Slightly dampen applicator with finish prior to starting. 1. Apply finish with the grain of the wood. 2. Pour finish onto floor in a 4” strip along the starting wall. 3. Pull the applicator towards you at a slight “snowplow” angle. Remember to keep a wet edge as you work. Feather all turns and stops in the direction which the applicator was pulled. 4. When you reach the end wall, pull the applicator around in a sweeping motion, without lifting it from the floor. 5. Feather turn and gently touch any missed spots. 6. Apply at recommended coverage in thin coats. DRYING TIME: ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN will dry quickly, but please allow a min. of 2 hours drying between coats and good ventilation. No more than two coats of ABSCO GRAND NXTGEN per day are recommended. RE-COATING: Use a surface preparation system and a between coat abrasive pad system for multiple coats. MAINTENANCE: We recommend using a cleaning product for all polyurethane surfaces that is soap-free, no rinse formula, which will not harm polyurethane or varnished wood surfaces.
