The Buyer/Purchasing Agent will partner and collaborate with various departments including scheduling, production team members, shipping & receiving, and our finance team as well as suppliers and transportation carriers. The person will have the ability to drive process improvement, accuracy in forecasting and deliveries while taking an active role in furthering the success of our company.

PRIMARY TASKS
  • Purchasing of raw materials, supplies, and services to optimize price, quality and on-time delivery insupport of the manufacturing operations
  • Manage the purchase order replenishment process with a focus on Inventory levels to the needs of our customer demands. Leverage ERP system tools for demand planning and warehouse management.
  • Work closely with Production Schedulers to align the production schedule with required raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust reorder points and min max levels to minimize inventory levels while maximizing service levels.
  • Learn existing, develop, and maintain Kanban systems and appropriate planning methods for items on Kanban.
  • Resolve discrepancies or issues as they occur. Work directly with suppliers and carriers to solve quantity, pricing, or service issues. Collaborate with production and technical group to improve material performance and strategy through the factory.
  • Provide reports related to purchasing, inventory, supplier performance and forecast trends.
  • Drive continuous improvements as standard work through visual and process management as well as our 6S program.
  • Participate on various continuous improvement teams at the facility – Safety, Quality, Waste Reduction, ISO implementation, etc.
  • Knows and willingly practices all safety rules and participates in our safety program.
PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor Science degree in Business (preferred) or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience with purchasing procedures and control systems.
  • Solid understanding and proficiency in manufacturing ERP systems and MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational and team work skills with excellent judgement in solving problems.
  • Must possess strong initiative, and excellent communication, and leadership skills.Proven ability in accepting and relishing a growing fast paced role.
