ABSCO Professional Polyurethanes offers the latest technology in environmentally compliant wood floor finishes. ABSCO’s high solid content will beautify and protect most commercial and residential wood floors, providing years of enjoyment. ABSCO can also offer superior protection on most other interior wood surfaces, such as handrails, trim, furniture and cabinets.
EASY TO APPLY: ABSCO Polyurethane will provide a beautiful low luster finish in just 2 coats. ABSCO is not recommended as a topcoat over lacquer sealers, or over white stains (due to discoloration).
SURFACE PREPARATION: Proper surface preparation is essential to achieve a high-quality finish.
NEW OR NEWLY SANDED FLOORS: Make several passes with the sandpaper, increasing the paper fineness with each pass. The final pass before application of ABSCO should be with a #100 grit screen disc or sandpaper. Remove dust completely by sweeping, vacuuming and wiping the floor with a lint free cloth lightly dampened with mineral spirits.
PREVIOUSLY SEALED OR FINISHED WOOD FLOORS: All wax, grease, soaps, oil and soil must be removed thoroughly. Buff the floor with #100 or #120 screen disc or sandpaper. Remove all dust completely, as described above. If the floor was previously finished with lacquer or shellac, it must be removed completely by sanding.
EQUIPMENT: Apply ABSCO with a lambswool applicator or good quality natural bristle brush.
THINNING INSTRUCTIONS: ABSCO is ready to use from the can, no thinning necessary. The high solids content of ABSCO should encourage application in THIN COATS.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION:
APPLICATION: STIR WELL BEFORE AND DURING APPLICATION. When applying ABSCO over a stain, make sure that the stain has dried properly. Check the directions on the stain package, as different brands will have different drying times. Most oil-based stains require a minimum of 24 hours before top coating. Apply ABSCO with the grain of the wood. After ABSCO has dried, screen the floor with a #150 grit screen disc or #180 grit sandpaper strip on maroon pad between coats. Remember to vacuum and tack thoroughly after screening to remove all dust.
DRYING TIME: When applied according to directions, and in thin coats, ABSCO should be ready to recoat in 4-8 hours. Heavy finish application, high humidity, or lack of air flow will extend drying times. After the final coat, the floor will be ready for light traffic in 24 hours.
COVERAGE: 500 square feet per gallon. The higher the coverage achieved, the faster the dry and re-coat times.
